Dialing it back
A screenless landline for kids (and maybe the rest of us).

Entry
A phone that’s allowed to just be a phone. We’re already into it.
Tin Can started as a side project by a group of parents who couldn’t find a phone they actually wanted to give their kids. And so they built it. A WiFi landline with no apps, no games, no texting and, importantly, no screen.
We like it for all the reasons that it takes us back to a simpler time. - a single place in the house. The fact that you have to physically go to it. Calling someone without knowing whether they will answer. Knowing that once you hang up, the interaction is over.
Tin Can is cool because the designed limits are the appeal of the product.
It brings back something more useful than the nostalgia of a landline: a tangible boundary. We spend a lot of time talking about what technology can add, so there is something refreshing about a product that dials things back and somehow gives us more.
It’s made for kids, although the rest of us might need it just as much.
